The Panda Lab at Explore Salk 2016
Author: Emily Manoogian, PhD
On April 15, 2016, the Salk Institute for Biological research hosted the 4th annual Explore Salk. Explore Salk is a free community open house offering a behind-the-scenes glimpse of our world-renowned facility and a chance to learn more about the extraordinary science being done at the Institute. The day includes guided lab tours, interactive events, scientific talks presented by our eminent investigators and hands-on activities for children. It is a wonderful opportunity to share in Jonas Salk’s vision by following your curiosity and exploring the research institute he founded.
We (the Panda lab) were very excited and honored to be the featured lab at Explore Salk 2016. We had our own booth which allowed us to share our research with the community and Dr. Satchin Panda, the head of our lab, gave a lecture. This Explore Salk was a huge success with over 1700 people in attendance. Our booth was filled with interested visitors of all ages throughout the day, Dr. Panda’s talk was completely filled, and over 150 people started using the MyCircadianClock App!
From all of us at the Panda lab, thank you to everyone who came to our booth and/or attended Dr. Panda’s talk to learn about our research!
